Hi, I’m Maggie Dickman. I’m a music/entertainment/lifestyle writer and social media strategist based in Brooklyn, NY, by way of Northwest Iowa. (Yes, my hometown is the Ice Cream Capital of the World.)
I’m currently the Assistant Audience Editor at PEOPLE Magazine. Previously, I was the freelance social media editor at PopCrush, and before NYC, I was the Digital Assistant at Alt Press, focusing on music, entertainment, and youth culture. I was previously a fashion, beauty, entertainment and tech writer for MORE.com, with work published on Track 7, CLRVYNT, Urban Plains and more.
You'll find writing samples under the assorted headings above.
Fact #1: My first tattoo was a stick n’ poke I got in a stranger’s kitchen, written for a personal experience story.
Fact #2: Being a "fangirl" is a good thing. And yeah, sometimes being a Vampire Diaries expert comes in handy when you end up interviewing one of the show's stars.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Drake University in Des Moines, IA with degrees in Magazine Journalism and English. (And let’s not forget that concentration in Film, Drama, and New Media.)
I like writing on everything from women’s health to Steve Harrington of Stranger Things, and if you want to talk girl power anthems, Panic! At The Disco, or fast fashion alternatives, hit me up: firstname.lastname@example.org.
